Ben Rasche
Ben Rasche, born in 1979, is an artist whose creative journey began at age nine, when he started drawing comics seriously and often gave his early work away, hoping it would endure. His talent was recognized earning him the High School Student Art Award during his teenage years. After facing challenges with mental illness and addiction in his late teens and early 20s, hospitalization was where his ability to expressions in drawing and painting thrived. Ben found stability through the Wall St Program in Southern Maine, a supportive community that offered enriching experiences like outings to movies, concerts, and restaurants. This period became a turning point, helping him reconnect with other community members. In his early 40s, inspired by a loved one (Kim) Ben returned to creating art with renewed vigor. Working primarily in acrylic for its quick-drying nature,as he puts it all together with inspiration from the act of creation itself, aiming to move and inspire others. Now, with a deep spiritual focus on God and Christ, Ben’s art reflects his resilience, recovery, and the joy of rediscovering his craft.
Rasche is Selah Gallery's first Canvas of Courage artist. You can view his work here
